Recreation Club Thanks Councillor McKenzie

November 4th, 2009
The Annerley Recreation Club (ARC) continues to work towards season 2010 with the commissioning of a new lighting switchboard funded by local councillor Ian McKenzie (pictured) and the Lord Mayor’s Suburban Initiative Fund.

The new switchboard, installed by N&P Contracting, replaced the original installed in the mid 1970’s but which had become unsafe. It includes a timer to ensure greater control over the use of the lights, access to power points for events like the annual refugee day, and provides for future upgrades and improvements to services on the field.

With the senior club recently winning the inaugural Football Brisbane Club of the Year Award and with junior sign-on scheduled for the end of January, the club is well positioned for a great season with the completion of a number of projects including the switchboard replacement, aeration and topdressing of the clubs fields, installation of junior field dugouts and water tanks for the senior field, and upgrading the mains power supply to the junior field lights.

Recreation Club Thanks Councillor

September 15th, 2009

The Annerley Recreation Club’s recent open day provided an opportunity for the Club to thank their local Councillor for Holland Park Ward, Mr Ian McKenzie. Councillor McKenzie was able to help the club earlier in the year with funding to replace goal posts as part of a major upgrade of Elder Oval used by Senior Club.

Also attending was Simon Finn MP the Labor State Member for the neighbouring seat of Yeerongpilly. The evening also provided an opportunity for members of the club to seek feedback and advice on grant funding applications and to discuss local issues including the availability of parks and reserves for public use, maintenance of club facilities, the eastern busway and commuter parking.
