Field Maintenance and Training Practices.
All coaches, managers and players are reminded that our fields are a valuable asset for the club, and as such they need to be looked after by everyone. A substantial amount of our registration fees are used to maintain the fields, certain training practices are extremely hard on the playing surfaces and should be avoided. These include use of the goal areas on Field 3 (main field in front of the junior clubhouse) and Field 4 (SSG field). Full size goals are available for limited use on Field 2 and Field 5. Temporary goals can be made using agility poles if needed in areas around the grounds. Small sided game pop-up style goals are also available for training.
The other training practice to be avoided is using field marking lines (eg sidelines) in training drills. This concentrates detrimental usage on specific areas of the fields. The use of training cones to form lines distributes usage across the fields and helps maintain our fields in the best possible condition. If at all possible training drills should be conducted on non-playing areas surrounding our fields.
Our fields are central to our sport, by observing a few simple practices we can all enjoy the benefit of good playing surfaces.
